Commodity Watch: Zinc futures rise marginally on low demand

New Delhi: Zinc prices rose slightly by Rs 8.55 to Rs 332.95 per kg in futures trade as traders stayed on the sidelines amid a lack of fresh triggers. Zinc contracts for February delivery edged up by 2.64 per cent in a turnover of 8,767 lots. Traders attributed the uptick in zinc futures to limited buying at lower levels, even as a lack of fresh triggers kept overall sentiment cautious.
Aluminium futures up on fresh positions
Aluminium prices rose nearly 1.47 per cent to Rs 323.40 per kg in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. Aluminium for delivery in February increased by Rs 4.70 in 8,874 lots.
Copper futures gain on high bets
Copper futures rose 1.26 per cent to Rs 1,324 per kg due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for February delivery grew by Rs 16.50 in a business turnover of 34,357 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
